We can tell he was a loving human being. The first set of youtubes is his radio broadcast with his daughter, shortly after they were reunited. To hear him talk of “a father’s simple joy of watching his daughter peaceably sleeping” is both heartwarming and gut wrenching—given the next set of youtubes.
These were made a few days later. The local and federal Gestapo goons had intercepted his 20-year-old daughter. They first offered her some large amount of money to betray her Dad. Then they threatened to lock her up for a long time if she did not give them what they wanted! They wanted her to describe the interior of his house and to lure him to a place and set him up. She told her Dad how frightened she was, but did not give him up despite being threatened with a long jail term.
